The Memorial Forest Club Killer Whales are proud members of the Memorial Spring Branch Swim Conference (MSBSC). MSBSC provides a competitive outlet and disciplined training program and a fun and competitive experience for all participants.
We are happy to announce that the Killer Whales will be coached by Justin Scheer. Coach Justin is very excited to be joining MFC as the new head coach for the 2018 swim season. He is in his 5th year as the assistant coach at Memorial High School. He has also been a head high school swim coach for Morton Ranch (Katy, TX ’13-’16) and St James (Murrells Inlet, SC ’08, Region Coach of the Year). He has spent the last 7 summers coaching in the WHALe league with Williamsburg Colony in Katy TX, winning division championships in ’13, ’16, and ’17.
Coach Justin also has experience working with USA swim teams, including working as an assistant age group coach with the Myrtle Beach Riptides (Myrtle Beach, SC ’07-’10), training both state and sectional level swimmers. He has also worked with the learn-to-swim programs of Stingrays Swimming (Marietta, Ga), and the City of Mobile Swim Association (Mobile, Al).
Coach Justin is an ASCA Level 2 certified coach and was a sectional and junior national qualifier in high school. In college he was a 7 time NAIA All-American (Spring Hill College, Mobile Al) specializing in distance freestyle, backstroke, and IM. Collectively he has 13 years of experience as a competitive swimmer and 15 years of coaching experience.
The pool at the Memorial Forest Club (MFC) serves as both our practice facility as well as the pool for home meets. If you are visiting or are new to the MFC, our pool is located at 12122 Memorial Drive. We have a very short season (about two months) so practices are frequent and should not be missed. Practice remains in the afternoon under a slightly different schedule after school is dismissed for the summer. Swimmer’s must be a member of their home pool in order to compete in our league. To read MSBSC’s competition rules, go here. For the MSBSC Sportsmanship Policy, go here. Per league rules, all swim meets start at 6:00 pm SHARP. Swimmers arrive early for warm up. Our team cap colors are green and white. Swimsuit colors vary and change every other season.
